Dusty ruby color. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum and blackberry, dark chocolate, and leather with a round, lively, dryish medium-full body and a warming, interesting, medium-long finish displaying accents of black cherry, walnut, black tea, and boysenberry with drying, grippy tannins and light oak flavor. A big red wine that will benefit from a rich roast pairing to help balance it.

While Portugal is best known for its production of Port wines, there are several types of red wine also produced in various regions. The best known of these include the robust reds produced from varieties that are used to produce Port, varieties such Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cao. These wines are produced in the Dour Valley and are ripe with black fruit flavors; the wines generally have slightly low acidity, due to the hot local climate. Drink these wines with rich red meats, game or aged cheeses.
