Garnet black color. Aromas and flavors of French press coffee grounds, leather satchel of pipe tobacco, figs and blackberry, and mixed berry jam with a velvety, lively, dry medium-full body and a warming, interesting, long finish that shows suggestions of fig preserves, leather, baking spice, and ligero tobacco with coating, firm, woody, chewy tannins and moderate oak flavor. A big wine for a big, rich dinner; intense and delicious.

While Portugal is best known for its production of Port wines, there are several types of red wine also produced in various regions. The best known of these include the robust reds produced from varieties that are used to produce Port, varieties such Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cao. These wines are produced in the Dour Valley and are ripe with black fruit flavors; the wines generally have slightly low acidity, due to the hot local climate. Drink these wines with rich red meats, game or aged cheeses.
