Garnet color. Aromas and flavors of cocoa Krispies, Loganberry, and geranium with a velvety, bright, fruity medium body and a tingling, interesting, breezy finish with overtones of mixed red berries, bramble berries, cocoa powder, and leather. Sweet and fruity, with a subtle earthy flavor to balance the fruits coming through very clean production.

For the wine consumer jaded by the chocolate and vanilla worlds of Cabernet and Chardonnay, a little diversity in the nightly wine selection can offer a welcome respite. Though hardly the "next new thing," a number of regional specialties around the country are waiting to surprise the unsuspecting wine tourist and provide a welcome change of pace.

A number of these wines are made in states such as Wisconsin or Missouri, from grapes such as Marechal Foch, Frontenac and Marquette; they are idiosyncratic with tangy flavors and moderate tannins; they are meant for early consumption.
