Deep purple color. Fruity aromas and flavors of boysenberry jam, mulberries, aloe, and lanolin lotion with a supple, vibrant, off-dry medium-to-full body and a smooth, medium-length finish that shows impressions of honeyed cherries and oranges and grape juice box with no oak flavor. A tasty off-dry red with rich jammy fruit flavors and lip smacking acidity; will be a great BBQ wine.

For the wine consumer jaded by the chocolate and vanilla worlds of Cabernet and Chardonnay, a little diversity in the nightly wine selection can offer a welcome respite. Though hardly the "next new thing," a number of regional specialties around the country are waiting to surprise the unsuspecting wine tourist and provide a welcome change of pace.

A number of these wines are made in states such as Wisconsin or Missouri, from grapes such as Marechal Foch, Frontenac and Marquette; they are idiosyncratic with tangy flavors and moderate tannins; they are meant for early consumption.
