Amber color. Aromas and flavors of german chocolate cake, baked cherries, raisin bran, and mixed berry compote with a velvety, crisp, dry medium-to-full body and a warming, complex, medium-long finish manifesting notes of roast meat in a red berry reduction sauce, deep roasted malt, and chocolate malt balls. A complex, well-aged, fruity, and savory Whisky to sip and contemplate.

Although not a huge industry, there are more than a dozen makers of Australian whisky, with most of them located on the island of Tasmania. Quality is quite high, especially for the versions aged in small French oak barrels for more than 12 years. There are various styles of Australian whiskey, both blended as well as single malt.

Australian whiskeys are generally smooth, without the peatiness or tang of Scotch whiskys. Flavor profiles range from notes of honey, forest herbs and golden raisin to cedar and chestnut. These are generally whiskies for sipping.
