Baltic porter lagers are black in color with alcohol ranging from 7-9%. These porters have low hop aromas with hints of floral notes. Roasted malts with dark sugars, caramelized sugars and hints of licorice show in the flavor. The style was developed by English brewers to serve markets in the East. Today, these beers may be brewed as both ales and lagers. Bottom fermentation allows for a cleaner and crisper finish than found in ale versions of the style. Noteworthy examples of this style include: Okocim Porter, Zywiec Porter and Lakefront Dan Baltic Porter.
