Garnet black color. Aromas and flavors of pickled black cherry, black plum and mushroom, leather and pipe tobacco, and cedar and black pepper with a velvety, lively, dry medium-to-full body and a warming, delightful, medium-length finish with notes of dry black plum and boysenberry, leather and pipe tobacco, tart black cherry, and currants and pepper with medium tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A classic Chambourcin with bold, black fruit notes and an underlying earthy and spicy character that will be great with richer food pairings.

About
Chambourcin
Chambourcin is a red French hybrid grape that was developed in the early 1960s. It is planted in several states in the eastern US; the top examples come from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York; there are also examples made in Australia, where it sometimes is blended with Shiraz.

The grape has black juice, unlike most red grapes whose juice is clear. Thus a Chambourcin wine has deep purple color; flavors are of plum and black cherry. It is best consumed in its youth (two to three years) for its freshness.
