Vodka is one of the most important spirits produced in Finland. Because of the purity of the local water used, Finnish vodka is extremely well regarded. Ultra smooth and clean, the typical Finnish vodka is a textbook style of non-flavored vodka. To capture the eve-burgeoning youth market, flavored vodkas, made with addition of such fruits as mango, black currant and tangerine are now produced and exported.
There are some spirits made from local berries, such as lingonberries; a few of the best are exported to many countries, including the USA. These are generally medium-sweet and should be served after dinner.
