Vin de Pays Merlot are everyday examples of Merlot, most frequently from districts in the south, such as the Languedoc or the Cotes du Roussillon. These Merlots are light to medium-bodied, with simple flavors of plum and berry fruit, good acidity, soft tannins and usually an herbal or spicy finish.

These are not wines for cellaring; rather enjoy these wines in their youth with lighter red meats, stews and other bistro cuisine.
